Do you look for books with or in Spanish for the youth in your life? Or are you trying to brush up on the language yourself? We now have a listing of all the youth Spanish language materials. The items included might be completely in Spanish, in both English and Spanish, or mostly English with a few Spanish phrases (think Dora the Explorer). To find this list, click the “Copy Categories” tab at the top of the search screen, either in the library or by accessing our Catalog at home through our website. Scroll down and select “Spanish – Youth.” You may sort by title, author, date published, or if you sort by call number, by section of the library. We currently have 211 items included from baby books up to teen books. So help build your little one’s literacy by exposing them to a new language, or by reinforcing their Spanish skills with some great books.

            Our picks are:

            Buenas Noches, Luna-- Goodnight, Moon

Emma y Sus Amigos: Un Libro sobre los ColoresEmma and Her Friends: A Book about Colors

Un Beso en Mi ManoThe Kissing Hand

The author of On Mended Wings: Transforming Lives and Communities in Nicaragua, Carol Van Klompenburg, will be visiting the Orange City Public Library and making a presentation on November 15 at 7 pm. Her book is a compilation of interviews, journal entries, and photos that tells the story of Nicaraguans and North Americans who have been transformed by the idea that the whole world belongs to God. The book tells of nonprofit organizations that work with Nicaraguan people to build new lives for themselves. If you have a heart for missions or storytelling, this presentation is meant for you.

Don’t forget about the Let’s Talk About It discussion of Heaven is for Real on November 15. The discussion will be held at Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community at 2 pm in the Family Room. Refreshements will be served. If you haven’t yet read the book, we have copies at the library for you to check out, and there is still plenty of time to complete it before the book talk. Hope to see you there!
