Summer Reading 2013 Dig into Reading!

Document Actions

Slogan

This year the Summer Reading Program runs from June 3 through July 12 with the theme Dig into Reading! and we have something for everyone!

If you're just interested in the Reading Program, you can stop in the library on or after June 4th to pick up a packet that includes everything you need to keep track of how much reading you do this summer. We have changed how to keep track of minutes for all ages, but instructions are included and feel free to ask any questions! For kids birth to 5th grade, prizes will be awarded at the end of each path-- no need to stop in every week to turn in minutes, though we do love having you! When each youth participant completes their reading goal for the whole program, they get the prize of a free book! If you take part in our Reading Program, you are also welcome at our Story Hours and evening programs. To see a schedule of our programs, see the list below or the back of the youth reading log.

PorcupineStory Hours will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:15 each week, unless there is a special program being held at that time. Story Hours are open to those age three and above, but those under the age of three are also welcome if they bring an adult along! No need to sign up, just show up!

Another option we have again this summer is Fun Shops. These classes meet once a week for all six weeks. You must sign up for Fun Shops according to the grade you just completed. This year there is no fee to attend the Fun Shops (thanks to the Dollar General Literacy Foundation) , but you must register in advance. There are two meeting times to choose from for each age group, choose the one that works best for you, and if you need to switch to your age group's other meeting time one week, no problem! There are two ways to sign up for Fun Shops-- sign up online on the Summer Rec website, or come into the library to sign up! You may sign up now, but make sure you come back on June 3 to pick up your reading packet.
