Our Six Week Summer Reading Program this summer runs from June 8 to July 17 and our theme this summer is Be Creative!  We will have something for everyone - ALL AGES will have a reading program again!!Books on Head

We have a fun Summer Reading Program planned again this summer—all based around being creative - through music, art, books and more!  Our program has a little something for every age.  If you choose to just do the reading program—you may come into the library after June 9 and receive a packet of information that tells you how to keep track of the time that you spend reading.  When you reach your reading goal, you bring your log in to the library for up to one prize each week.  THIS SUMMER - we are  ALL working toward a NEW goal as well.  IF we can reach 8,000 HOURS of reading - between ALL the readers - the Library will purchase a Wii (with help from local businesses) for the community to use in the library!!  The Reading Program is open to any age—birth  to Adult - but weekly prizes are given to those Birth - Grade 5.  If you are signed up for the Reading Program, you Stiltsare also welcome to attend any of our night-time activities that are planned during the program.  To see our Summer Reading Calendar online or print it out - click HERE.  Click HERE to download Barnes and Nobles' Summer Reading Sheet - they will be coming to our library on July 16 from 9:45 to 10:30 to award books to summer readers.  Make sure and fill out your B&N reading logs and come in that morning to pick up your prize from Barnes and Noble!

Another option during the Summer Reading Program is to attend Fun Shops.  These are fun classes that meet once a week for each of the six weeks.  You must sign-up by the grade you just completed and there is a $3.00 fee for this option—just to help cover costs of crafts, snacks, etc.  Each age group meets once a week, but there will be two times listed—choose the one that works best for you and some weeks if you have to substitute one time for the other, that is just fine.  These fun shops are meant to be just that—FUN, but we also strive to make them educational as well.  We have some guest speakers, games, crafts, books to read, and other fun activities planned around our theme during the six weeks.  If you sign up for Fun Shop, you are automatically enrolled in the Reading Program.  You can sign up for Fun Shop at the Summer Rec. Sign-up Night on Monday, May 18 or at the Orange City Public Library after May 18.  (Participation in the library's Summer Reading Program gives us permission to use your child's photo on our website UNLESS you notify us differently.)
